Fieldings Birds

The family site about birds as a hobby

Home

Welcome to the new website of Ian and Pat Fielding. We have completely revamped the site and we hope you enjoy your visit. Please take the time to sign our guestbook to tell us what you think of the new site.

Ian and Pat live in Southport, Merseyside. The house is a large detached with a large garden for plenty of birds. The main birdroom is an extension to the garage with a kitchen area. Two other aviaries are in the garden containing Pats lovebirds.

Ian and Pat Married in 1982. Pat gained both a husband and a shed full of budgies. In 1983,  Mick Harvey, Ian, Pat and several other local fanciers started Stockport BS. Pat was its first treasurer. Both were still involved in the running of the society until it folded even though they moved to Southport in 1997. Ian decided to specialise in Recessive Pieds in the late 80′s whilst Pat concentrated on the having 2 children Jonathan and Jennifer. More recently Pat has become more involved in looking after the birds particularly when Ian is away on business.

Pat has been patronage secretary of the VBC since the early 90′s and Ian its General Secretary. Pat is treasurer and show secretary of the LCNWBS and was the first lady president in 2007. Ian is the general secretary and newsreport editor of the LCNWBS and had the honour of being the President of the LCNWBS in 2001- its 65th year.

The birdroom at present contains a large colony of Recessive pieds and Dark -eyed clears. The number  increased due to the acquisition of the recessive pied and dark eyed clear stud of Mick Mitchinson. Ians recessive pieds and more recently the dark eyed clears have done well on the show bench.  In 2011 we bred quite a few splits but very few recessive pieds and dark eyed clears. In 2012 we bred both dark eyed clears and recessives so we were able to show in the young bird classes. Two of our birds became champion birds having gained over 21 points over a number of challenge certificates. This season the birds have lacked the quality of last year and have not been in condition so we have only shown 3 times so far.
